What are warts & verrucas?

Warts and verrucas are skin-coloured bumps made up of excess keratin, a hard protein, on the skin caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). Most warts have a rough, irregular surface, resembling a cauliflower, but some are flat and smooth.
